Mount Saint Francis Picnic to rock Floyds Knobs [Southern Indiana]

Annual festival will animate usually tranquil retreat center on Saturday.

Cars on adjacent US Highway 150 are usually the loudest noises heard around Mount Saint Francis, home of the Conventual Franciscan province of Our Lady of Consolation. On Saturday, many of those cars will be turning into the drive and parking in the fields, as the friars of "The Mount" host their annual picnic.

"Pony Express, Revisited"

The Frazier Museum presents "Pony Express, Revisited," a re-examination of history and a present-day photographic observation of the famous route that lives on in the American imagination. This series of photographs captures the poetry and irony of America’s past and present westward expansion, while referencing its romanticism and the urgency of communication. This mini-exhibition opens in time to mark the 150th anniversary of the first ride of the Pony Express, as well as the 2010 Equestrian World Games in Lexington, Ky.

Sometimes the only place to go for answers is the State Fair. There have been times when I've wrestled with, what felt like, the questons of the world. What I loved about this exhibit is the simplicity of the question posed. Really, who hasn't ever thought about what one can do with a llama (ahem..Michael Jackson)?
