
Historic Frankfort Avenue will celebrate 4th of July by hosting a “Freedom Hop” F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, June 26th from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. More than 30 participating businesses along the Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenue corridor will be embellished with balloons, garland and miniature American flags, and trolley hoppers will enjoy FREE parking and transportation provided by TARC.

I usually buy spices at Lotsa Pasta. I like that you can buy them in small quantities – they’re more affordable, and less goes to waste that way. But armed with a spice shopping list a mile long last week to make a Moroccan tomato jam, I came up nearly empty-handed at Lotsa Pasta. Not since I lived in the foodie wasteland of Somerset have I felt so let down while food shopping. I’ve come to expect that living in Louisville I can get nearly any food item I want, not matter how obscure.
Westport Village announces a new event – Healthy You Healthy Planet Festival to be held 10 am-5 pm, Saturday, May 30th. The event is produced by the businesses in Westport Village that focus on healthy lifestyles and a healthy planet. These businesses are Amazing Green Planet, Chuck & Mike’s Tennis Shop, Curves Fitness, elements therapeutic massage, MultiCare Centre for Integrative Medicine, Norton Immediate Care Center, Snap Fitness, Mountain Bike Depot and ‘Cross Supply, and The Trail Store.

With Kentucky Derby® 135 on May 2, 2009, quickly approaching, Churchill Downs, the legendary racetrack that hosts the annual “Run for the Roses®,” and Mattel are pleased to announce that they have teamed up to create the Kentucky Derby® Barbie® doll.
Sponsored by the Courier-Journal/courier-journal.com, WAVE-3, and 102.3 THE MAX, The Outrageous Derby Hat Contest is a live event scheduled for Saturday, April 11, in the middle of Westport Village. Atherton High School Choir will perform at the beginning of the contest, which will be hosted by Lynda Lambert 102.3 THE MAX, and feature contestants modeling their Derby Hats for a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges. Winners will be announced at the end of the live event.
