Jeff gaithers sidewalk artJeff Gaither is one of Louisville KY’s most notorious and renowned artists, who happens to have been specialized in an unusual genre for well over 30 years. Those seeking flowery images and angelic beings won’t find them in Gaither’s gallery, unless the images also contain a somewhat darker contrast. His preferred subject matter offers dark art enthusiasts an unusual blend of horror and gothic energy mixed with the essence of heavy metal and rock and roll, though he occasionally reaches into other realms.
The name Jeff Gaither does not instantly cause one to be overcome with spine tingling terror, however upon seeing his work, one will recognize a familiar theme often seen around horror enthusiasts and youthful crowds. Gaither’s art, which consists of everything from charcoal sketches to sculptures (some of which can be seen in his gallery) has been featured internationally on skate boards, stickers, posters, shirt designs, magazine and comics. He has created the feature art for personalities and on CD covers for The Misfits, GG Allin, Guns-N-Roses, The Murder Junkies, Hirax, and the Hare Krishna Zombie (Dawn of the Dead), just to name a few. His uniquely dark designs have even been featured in the popular Guitar Hero, Walking Dead comic and in Fangoria Magazine along with local publications The Leo Weekly, Velocity and Louisville Music News. Gaither’s artwork can also be found featured on festival and convention posters that he attends, such as the Texas Fear Fest, Fright Night Horror Fest and the Atlantic Horror Festival.
Though much of his art is focused on horror, Gaither doesn’t require fear tactics to increase his popularity and will be launching a new website offering his designs on shirts, glasses and posters within the next few weeks. Throughout the past 30 years, Gaither has created art for over 300 CD covers and over 2000 magazine covers, while continuing to live in Louisville KY and be involved with the community. His list of accomplishments and associates continues to grow yearly, as does his involvement with festivals, record companies, celebrities and publishers around the globe.
