The Louisville Youth Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra (Jason Seber, conductor and music director), Repertory Orchestra (Richard Ryan, conductor), Percussion Ensemble (Mark Tate, coach), Horizons Flute Ensemble (Dennis Robinson, coach) and Horizons Brass Ensemble (Donna Parkes, coach) will present a performance on Sunday, March 20, 2011 – “Tried and True”.
This concert will feature standard classical repertoire including Bizet’s Carmen Suite #1, Mussorgsky’s Great Gate of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition and Brahms’ Symphony no. 1 in c minor, op.68.
Also, the winners of the LYO’s 2010 Concerto Competition will be featured. These winners are Parker Staten, trumpet, who will perform the Rondo from Hummel’s Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra and Christopher Zhou, clarinet, who will perform a movement from von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in f minor, op. 73.
The performance will begin at 4:00 pm at the Brown Theater located at 315 West Broadway, Louisville, KY.
Ticket prices are $14.00 for adults, $10.00 for senior citizens (60+), $5.00 for students with valid ID and free for non school age children.

The Louisville Youth Orchestra offers instruction for orchestral players ranging from beginners to pre-professionals.
Any student under age 21 who plays an orchestral instrument is welcome to audition for the LYO.
