    Bit to Do

    Seth Glier

Massachusetts native Seth Glier, a piano-rock man, whose second album The Next Right Thing garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, will play at Uncle Slayton's Wednesday, February 1 at 8:30 p.m.

Just in his early 20s, Glier already has two albums under his belt and has received positive critical attention, in addition to his Grammy nod. He has toured extensively on his own and also opened for Edward McCain and the Verve Pipe. He will join Ani DiFranco on her West Coast tour this March. Glier puts the causes he believes in up front too, often playing in schools and hospitals, promoting tree-planting parties, and food pantry drives along side his shows.

Glier's music features piano-driven rock and emotional pop songs -- earnest, pretty, accomplished (he studied at the Berklee College of Music, where Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings also attended). He reminds me a bit of Brett Dennen with a little Billy Joel thrown in, his voice a polished tenor/falsetto. He's definitely a talent to check out if those random markers appeal to you. He will also perform live on WHAS 11 on the morning of Feb. 1, if you want a sneak-peek.

Glier will appear with Jess Langer next Wednesday night at Uncle Slayton's for a 21 and over show. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. You can buy tickets at the door for $8 or in advance from TicketFly
