2015 Kentucky Bluegrass and Bourbon Experience Coming Soon!

There are no two things on Earth that go together quite as well as Bluegrass Music and Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.  When you add in delicious barbecue and an historic venue like Water Tower Park, you have the makings of a perfect weekend in Bourbon Country.

The annual Kentucky Bluegrass and Bourbon Festival will take place September 4-6 at Water Tower Park in Louisville.  The bourbon lounge is sponsored by Four Roses, and there are sure to be some great bottles of bourbon available.  Last year they had everything from Booker’s to Weller Antique available to try, and the prices to sample were quite reasonable. The nice thing about this festival is it’s very family-friendly.  There are inflatables for the kids as well as all kinds of food, and it’s outdoors so your kids can run around and get exercise while you enjoy the music.  Admission for kids under 10 is free, though inflatables do require tickets or a wristband.

There will also be a graft vendor area for all kinds of locally-made wares.  Last year there were embroidered tea towels, handmade soaps, cutting boards, jewelry, and many other unique items for sale. Multiple food vendors round out the experience, including typical fair-food and many different types of barbecue offerings. Bluegrass bands for the event include Hickory Vaught, Relic, Lonesome River Band, Whiskey Bent Valley Boys, Blind Corn Liquor Pickers, Hog Operation, The Wayfarers, Larry Keel, Red Ember, Total Strangers, 10 String Symphony, Newtown, and The Hog Shop String Band.

Three day passes can be purchased for $30.  Individual day tickets are $12 before 6 p.m. and $16 after 6. Cash only at the gate.  Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets.
