The theory behind the challenge is that small acts cumulatively add up to make a big difference. You don't have to be the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in order to change the world. Do something small, something within your means every day, and over time the effects snowball. The theory reminds me of studies that show it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert. Those first 10 hours may make you feel like you're wasting your time, but you have to start the long, slow march towards 10,000 somewhere.
