    Bit to Do

    1. It’s close and convenient.

From downtown Louisville, French Lick Resort is a mere 57-mile drive. That means you’ll only have to be in the car with your kids for a little over an hour, conveniently about the length of a classic Disney movie. You can enjoy the countryside scenery of the Southern Indiana springtime, and arrive at French Lick Resort already relaxed and ready to get in some quality family time. Just think, you might not have to hear “are we there yet?” a single time.

    2. It’s affordable and fun.

When you subtract the cost of gas, car maintenance and plane tickets from the equation, you have a lot of money left in your budget for the stuff you actually want to do on vacation: eat, drink, and be merry. From March 11 through April 11, French Lick Resort has a myriad of family-friendly activities planned on Wednesdays through Sundays, many of them free. On Wednesday nights, your family can enjoy bowling, game night, tricky golf, and s’mores outdoors. Fridays are the day for guided hikes, basketball and an ‘80’s dance party where your clan can limbo the night away. On Saturdays your family can enjoy an obstacle course and a rousing game of capture the flag, and on Sundays you can take in a movie night. There are many other special events planned for March 11 through April 11, a full list of which can be found here.

    3. It’s a kid-friendly vacation.

This spring break is the upscale version of a family camp (without the mosquitoes, tents, and inevitable poison ivy) where your kids can earn bragging rights in old-school games like dodgeball, or hitch a ride on the haywagon for s’mores at night. There are tons of kid-friendly dining options on the resort including Pluto’s Pizzeria, Xanadu Coffee and Creamery, and Hagen’s Club House Restaurant. The KidsFest program at French Lick gives kids ages 6 through 12 the chance to have fun without their parents at the KidsFest Lodge where they can play in the bounce house and attend the toymaker’s workshop and airplane Olympics.

    4. It’s a parent-friendly vacation.

Spending quality time with your kids is probably your vacation priority, but there are plenty of adult activities available at French Lick Resort. Mom or Dad can spend some pamper time at the Spa at French Lick and try a signature Pluto Bath: relaxing in a private tub where people have been bathing in the healing mineral water of French Lick since the 1920s. The minerals in the water help alleviate stress and pain while nourishing the skin. The French Lick Casino is a Vegas-style gaming facility with 1,000 new and classic slots, 37 game tables, and live entertainment, and golf packages are available for four gorgeous courses

    5. It’s beautiful and historic.

The French Licks Springs Hotel was established in 1845, and attracted guests from all around the world to experience the “miracle waters” from nearby sulfur springs.  Franklin D. Roosevelt announced his 1932 candidacy for president at the hotel, and tomato juice is said to have been served for the first time at the hotel in 1917 when the chef ran out of orange juice. The West Baden Springs Hotel has one of the largest free-spanning domes in the world, and advertised itself in 1902 as “the eighth wonder of the world.” French Lick Resort has old-world charm and new-world fun: what more could you want out of a family vacation?
