This week’s Louisville.com featured adoptable dog of the week is Scout.
This little pit bull princess is an eight-month-old, 45 lb "pocket pittie." She can be anxious around strangers at first, but once she gets to know you, you will have a loving companion for life. Scout has had a hard life, coming from an uncaring home and then being abandoned at a high-kill shelter. It took time for her to heal from both internal and external wounds, but now she is ready to find a home that will treat her like the royal cutie she is. She gets along with both dogs and cats and, despite her past, she is a happy young dog with a spring in her step and an unwavering desire to give sloppy kisses. Scout is microchipped, spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Louisville's Hand-in-Paw Rescue focuses on pulling pregnant or nursing dog mothers and their babies from area shelters. The organization's goal is to stop the cycle of unwanted litters and to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering.
