Danny Podliski, McKendree College pins his opponent

Basketball and football aren't the only sports that Kentuckiana kids at. Wrestling has slowly began to creep into the mainstream as of late. With the creation of a true Pro Wrestling league, Real Pro Wrestling, many athletes are taking the path less traveled as they try to succeed in college with hopes of making it to the next level.

Over the week/files/storyimages/several area wrestlers competed in the Patriot OPen hosted by Cumberland College. Tom Campbell and Josh Boggs both of Fort Campbell, Ken. and both wrestling for Cumberland at 141lbs, Rollie Casson also of Fort Campbell, Ken.(Cumberland) and Danny Podliski of Scottsburg, Indiana (McKendree College) wrestling at 157lbs. David Muncy of Sheldon Cark, Ken. (Cumberland College) wrestling at 165lbs.

Boggs and Muncy both took home gold for Cumberland College and Podliski captured fourth for McKendree. One of the most intriguing stories of the day had to be of Josh Boggs. Not only did he dominate his weight class but he has also dominated tthe fact he is missing his left leg from the knee down. He showed great poise on the mat as he used his grappling skills to overcome his opponents.

Josh Boggs, Cumberland College, overcomes more than just the match.
Wrestling is alive and well in the area and hopefully someday we will see some of the local talent at the next level wrestling in the RPW.
