The last time the were on stage together the two candidates for Kentucky governor, Democrat Jack Conway and Republican Matt Bevin, were hurling insults at Fancy Farm. When they take the stage at Bellarmine University for a debate, things will be a bit more civil.

Bellarmine announced today that they will be hosting a debate between the two candidates on September 15. Bellarmine is partnering with the four media members of the Bluegrass Poll (The Courier-Journal, WHAS-11, Lexington Herald-Leader, and WKYT) to stage the debate. The event will take place from 7-8 p.m. and it will be televised by WHAS and WKYT as well as livestreamed by The Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader.

About 300 guests will be invited to attend the the debate in the Wyatt Center for the Arts' Amy Cralle Theater on the Bellarmine campus.

The moderator will come from WHAS and one questioner each will represent The Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader.

Other candidates have potential to be included in the debate. To participate, a candidate must be certified to be included on the election ballot and must have at least 7.5 percent support in the most recent Bluegrass Poll.
