After converting your dollars to foreign currency and studying foreign weather patterns, the most important part of traveling out of the country is making sure you know what kind of delicious cuisine you can look forward to eating. Travelers can definitely expect a wildly flavorful adventure when traveling outside of the United States, but what’s expected for those traveling within the country? Sure, Chicago is known for its original deep dish pizza, and New Orleans is famous for its delicious seafood, but what do out-of-towners expect when they come to Louisville?

The folks at Food Guide Food Tours of Louisville are working towards answering this question.

“We noticed that every time we went somewhere, we always ended up taking a tour or doing tastings to discover the cool things in that area,” says world traveler and Food Guide founder, Max Shireman about opening the business with his wife, Stacy. “We have a really impressive microbrew community [in Louisville] and we’re in the heart of Bourbon Country, yet we really didn’t have a food tour for the downtown area. Thus, our tour was born.”

The walking Food Guide Food Tours of Louisville celebrate the exciting bourbon-themed flavors of downtown Louisville and are perfect for both long time Louisvillians and first time visitors of the city. The walking tours begin in the heart of downtown Louisville and make stops at some of the city’s top rated restaurants like Manny and Merle, Safier Mediterranean Deli and the Bluegrass Brewing Company.

Tours are designed to accommodate up to 16 people of any fitness level and take place at 11:30am every Saturday and 5:30pm every Wednesday in May through November.  It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon with your visiting friends and family while learning about the food history of our great city.

Tickets are $55 for adults and $35 for children and include all food and drinks from each stop along the way. To make a reservation, please call 1-866-736-6343 or visit Food Guide Food Tours of Louisville’s website!
