If your feet are still sore from walking and your hangover headache has just now started to subside, you know you had an excellent time at this year’s Brew at the Zoo and Wine Too on Saturday night.

With a list of events and vendors bigger than ever before, this annual fundraising event was once again a total hit. The Louisville Zoo opened its doors to VIP ticket holder at 4pm, an hour earlier than general admission ticket holders, and by the time the clock struck five o’clock, the zoo’s extra large parking lot was nearly full of cars packed with this city’s biggest beer lovers and wine connoisseurs.

And as if a trail of beer and wine tastings wasn’t enough to entice this year’s group of thirsty animal-loving patrons, the Louisville Zoo accommodated its 21+ only guests by completely transforming from a child-oriented family fun park into a full-fledged adults only party venue, complete with live music from Relic, The Bacchanal Steel Band and This, That & The Other.

Even the animals were joining in on the fun as they abandoned their daytime hiding places and greeted guests along with the cool evening air.

This year’s impressive roster of vendors was almost too long to conquer in one night, but there were some troopers in attendance that made a complete round through each one. The list included Abita, Heavy Seas, Breckenridge Brewing, Left Hand Brewing, Great Lakes Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing and many more, all of which served 20 oz samples of their signature beers all night long.

And don’t forget about the delicious food that paired so well with the delicious ales. Mrs. Grissom’s chipotle cheddar and ham salad samples were a couple of the most mouth watering crowd-pleasers. The food samples were available at the beginning of the night, leaving the rest of the beer to take over the serving booths during the last two hours of the event.

Tickets for this year’s Brew at the Zoo and Wine Too sold out at lightning speed. But don’t be discouraged if you didn’t get to attend, this event will be back for another round next year!
