    Brown-Forman has awarded Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, the nation’s oldest independently operated free Shakespeare Festival, a grant of $40,000. This gift will be awarded in increments over the next three years and goes toward Kentucky Shakespeare Festival’s free Shakespeare in Central Park. As acknowledgement for this incredible gift, Brown-Forman will be recognized as the presenting sponsor of the opening show of the season in 2008 and 2009 and as the season sponsor in 2010 during Kentucky Shakespeare Festival’s 50 year anniversary celebration. Each summer, KSF serves thousands of people with FREE performances of Shakespeare’s plays in Central Park in historic Old Louisville. Kentucky Shakespeare Festival presents its 48th season of “Free Will” in Old Louisville’s Central Park with two professional shows, Julius Caesar and Pericles (June 18-July 20 with no performance on July 4th). Julius Caesar is directed this year by Director of Education, Pamela Di Pasquale. Directing Pericles in his final year as Producing Artistic Director is Curt L. Toftland. Adding to the “Festival” atmosphere are the Greenshow, pre-show entertainment featuring jugglers, musicians, storytelling and dancing beginning at 6:30pm Fridays and Saturdays during the run (6:00pm July 18 & 19). Family Week, July 16-20 will be completely kid-friendly and family oriented for the youngest theatre-goers. Group Nights offer any group, club, organization or business an opportunity to bring a group for an evening of free outdoor entertainment and a distribute information about their group through inserts in the playbill or by setting up a table near “Will’s Gift Shoppe”. The Speaker Series offers an opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about Julius Caesar and Pericles to engage in pres-show discussions with Curt L. Toftland, Producing Artistic Director and Director of Pericles or Joseph Ardery, local attorney and Shakespearean scholar speaking about Julius Caesar. Discussions begin at 7:15 pm July 8-13. All performances are held at the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre in Central Park located at 4th and Magnolia in the Old Louisville historic district, are as always free, and begin at 8 PM.
