You can watch it in 24-hour marathons from Halloween to New Year’s. So why bother going out on a chilly fall evening to see A Christmas Story in person?

Because. It’s a modern-day classic. Timeless. Feel-good. And, to be perfectly honest, it’s funny to watch a little kid get his tongue stuck to a flagpole.

And it’s on stage now at Actors Theatre.

A Christmas Story, based on the 1983 movie by Jean Shepherd, follows the Parker family, and specifically young Ralphie, as they get ready for Christmas.  Through some tumultuous tomfoolery, Ralphie persists in his quest to have a Red Rider BB gun show up under the tree on Christmas morning.

A Christmas Story opens Tuesday, November 8th and runs through the 27th at Actors Theatre. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased online, in person, or by calling the box office at (502) 584-1205.

Actor’s Theatre has several discount ticket offers available, including those for residents who have never before purchased Actor’s tickets, senior and student discounts, and a special “20 at $20” program. See the Actors Theatre website for details and restrictions.

And if you, like Raphie, are taken in by the wonderment of the Red Rider BB gun--don't worry. You can purchase your very own online now at Bass Pro Shops.
