Louisville, Ky. - The NFL Europe League announced its annual awards at World Bowl Media Day today at the LTU Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, and it was a Houston Texan and a Kansas City Chief picking up the biggest prizes.

Quarterback Dave Ragone (Texans) and linebacker RICH SCANLON (Chiefs), both of the Berlin Thunder, were named the NFL Europe Offensive and Defensive Most Valuable Players, respectively. The pair will seek to cap their successful European stints by helping Berlin to an unprecedented fourth World Bowl championship in five years. The Amsterdam Admirals' BART ANDRUS was named Coach of the Year.

The league also announced its all-NFL Europe League team. The Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers each placed two players on the squad.

World Bowl XIII between the Thunder and Admirals for the NFL Europe League title will be played this Saturday in Dusseldorf. FOX will broadcast the game in the United States at 12:00 p.m. (ET) with CURT MENEFEE and BRIAN BALDINGER calling the action.

"NFL Europe is a great opportunity to improve your game by actually playing in games," said Texans head coach DOM CAPERS. "Dave Ragone took full advantage of the experience and I'm sure he's going to do everything possible to help his team win a championship."

Ragone started all 10 games for Berlin, leading the team to a 7-3 record. He led NFL Europe with a 97.5 passer rating; 1,746 passing yards; a 62.9 completion percentage, and tied for the league lead with 13 touchdown passes. Ragone was also masterful at protecting the ball, throwing only two interceptions and establishing an NFL Europe record with a streak of 174 consecutive passes without an interception.

Scanlon started all 10 games at linebacker for Berlin and compiled a league-best 94 tackles, adding 3.0 sacks, five passes defensed and one forced fumble. Joining Scanlon on the all-league team is fellow Chief defender SCOTT CONNOT. The Amsterdam safety tied for third in the league with four interceptions.
