December Legends Series Will Feature Jimmy Russell

As I reported in September, The Kentucky Derby Museum’s Legends Series is back for another round, and it just keeps getting better.  They’ve already had some amazing guests, including Ed Foote, Chris Morris, and Greg Metze.  The next session will take place on December 4th from 5:30-7:30 at the Kentucky Derby Museum.  The guest for this session will be Jimmy Russell, the Master Distiller of Wild Turkey, who is celebrating his 60th year in the spirits business this year.  Russell’s accolades this year alone have included a lifetime membership to the Kentucky Distillers Association and recognition by Mitch McConnell on the floor of Congress.  The event is hosted by Kentucky Derby Museum Bourbon Authority Fred Minnick.

The event will be a journalistic style question and answer session with Minnick interviewing Russell in front of the audience.  A tasting of selected bourbons will accompany the interview.  Guests will have an opportunity to ask Russell their own questions at the end of the event.  Attendees will also have an opportunity to purchase a Limited Edition bottle of Wild Turkey Forgiven and have it signed by Russell at the end of the night.

Jimmy Russell has worked in the Kentucky Spirits Industry longer than any other Master Distiller in history.  According to the press release, “He trained under Bill Hughes, Wild Turkey Bourbon's second master distiller, and Ernest W. Ripy, Jr., the son of the original owners. It's a small community of men who have mastered bourbon, and within this brotherhood, Jimmy Russell has gained a reputation as ‘the master distillers' master distiller.’"
