I recently enjoyed a girls’ night out at El Camino (more lovingly/jokingly termed El "freaking” Camino colloquially), and though their cocktail menu is thicker than their actual menu, it was the food that left me driving home full, happy, and with the top button of my jeans undone.

The incredible meal we shared there started with four dips that arrived at our table ordered by spiciness: salsa Mexicana, salsa verde, salsa Guajilo and fresh guacamole. The warm, salty chips served separately in small paper bags offered the perfect complement to the starter. The real highlight of the meal, though, was the “kitchen sink” burrito.

The “kitchen sink” was fabulous, and is often available as a special at El Camino. The fat, $12 burrito is layered with flavor in every bite: pork, chorizo, barbacoa, rice, beans, grilled kale, yes kale, and chopped onion all wrapped meticulously in a warm white flour tortilla topped with drizzles of sour cream and swimming in a pool of spicy salsa.

At first I (stupidly) questioned the inclusion of the kale, and with the first bite realized the bitter-sweet, brilliant green note the popular vegetable added to the burrito. The jalapeno and red pepper sauces set up in table were a welcome inclusion to “the kitchen sink” and added some serious dabs of deliciousness. I wish I had the “kitchen sink” sitting on my lap right now.

Check out El Camino, and beg them for the “kitchen sink.” Go, now!
