Louisville’s disgraced 1st District Councilwoman Judy Green was defiant on Friday, after learning that the Metro Ethics Commission voted unanimously to recommend her removal from office for multiple ethical lapses.  She adamantly told a reporter that she would not resign, and called the Ethics Commission hearings a “sham” and “waste of taxpayer money.”

Now, segue into the embarrassing scandal of New York congressman Anthony Weiner, who steadfastly refuses to resign, despite an almost total lack of support from his Democratic congressional colleagues.  In fact, one of the few remaining political friends to come to his defense was censured tax-cheat and fellow New York Democrat U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, who suggested that other members of Congress had done things more immoral than Weiner.  “At least,” said Rangel, “He wasn't going out with little boys."

Even Weiner’s longtime friend, Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart was willing to throw his pal under the bus:

What, you may ask, do these two Democratic political scandals have in common?  Well, as history seems to indicate, whether they’re impeached in office for perjury or caught sleeping with drunk underage pages, Democrats don’t resign.

Get caught with $90,000 in your freezer, like William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, Democrat of Louisiana?  Stay in office.  Allow your male prostitute boyfriend to run a homosexual prostitution ring out of your townhouse, like Barney FrankDon’t quit, and get re-elected.  Get indicted for sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse of a 16-year-old campaign volunteer, like Chicago’s Mel ReynoldsRefuse to resign, and get re-elected.

Hell, you can get drunk, drive off a bridge and kill a girl, and—if you’re a Democrat—become one of the most senior and honored members of the U.S. Senate.  Beginning to see a pattern here?  Democrats don’t resign.

In European countries, politicians caught in flagrante delicto usually resign in disgrace.  In Japan, they resign, and then commit seppuku.  Even Republicans in this country, by and large, resign their public office when caught with their hand in the cookie jar (or up the skirt of a young intern).

Not so, with Democrat politicians.  No amount of public exposure of their vanities, vices, and peccadilloes will force these liberal crusaders to fall upon their swords.  They know not the meaning of the word “fear.”  Or, for that matter, the word “shame.”

So, we predict that—unless the Metro Council and the congress force Green and Weiner out of office with a vote—these two tawdry miscreants will hang on to the bitter end.  Democrats never quit.  And this is nothing but good news for Republicans.
