Down One Storyteller Series To Host Morris, Russell In August
    Print this page

Down One Bourbon Bar has begun to host a new Bourbon Master Storyteller Dinner series.  The events feature Master Distillers and other bourbon masters for an evening of food, fun, and bourbon.  There will be two such events in August: the first will feature Chris Morris, Master Distiller of both Woodford Reserve and Old Forester.  The second will feature Jimmy Russell, a 60 year industry veteran and the Master Distiller for Wild Turkey.

On August 6 at 7 p.m., Chris Morris will host a Prohibition-era themed dinner.  He will talk about the history and the future of Old Forester, which is building a new distillery on Whiskey Row in Louisville.  He’ll also be talking about and sampling the new “Whiskey Row” series bourbons.  Tickets are $55 per person and do not include tax or gratuity.

Then on August 13 at 7 p.m., the incomparable Jimmy Russell will host an “Unconventional Turkey Dinner” of turducken and all the fixins.  The bourbon will also be of the unconventional variety: Rare Breed, Russel’s Reserve, Kentucky Spirit, and Diamond.  Russell is a wonderful storyteller, and after 60 years in the industry he has more stories to tell than anyone else.  Tickets to this dinner are also $55 per person and do not include tax or gratuity.

This Storyteller Dinner Series is another great way to learn about bourbon from the great folks who are shaping the industry.  It’s a huge bonus that you get a great dinner and an awesome bourbon selection on top of the unique learning experience.
