The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international nonprofit organization offering services designed to help women find jobs and remain employed. To date, Dress for Success programs and services have helped more than 700,000 women globally - moving individuals and families from barely surviving to significantly thriving in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Ireland and the West Indies.

Dress for Success Louisville, one of the now 140 affiliates, has served over 15,000 women since its founding in 2000  The organization is best known for its suiting programs that provide women with interview appropriate suits and, once employed, additional clothing to provide them with a foundation for a professional wardrobe.   However, it is their employment retention programs that are the cornerstone of the organization.  The Professional Women’s Group (PWG), Career Center, and Going Places Network (GPN) sponsored by Walmart, work together to increase the ability of women to remain employed, advance in their employment and become economically self-sufficient.
