Teddy Abrams and the Louisville Orchestra are at it again with their cosmic collaboration and fresh approach to classic music. On Friday, October 23rd and 24th, Abrams, and the Orchestra will be joined by "community collaborators" from the local music scene to create "Eroica" at the Kentucky Center. Beethoven's "Eroica" was a game changer in its time, and revolutionary in scale. This will be the first of seven concerts within the series. Abrams tells us, “The Louisville Concerto is not so much a piece I’ve written as it is a piece I coordinated.  We gathered four local musicians without regard to their genre– percussionist, Dani Markham; hip-hop rapper, JaLin Roze; folk/indie rock artist, Will Oldham; and bluegrass violinist, Scott Moore – and put them together to form a solo quartet. It’s almost as though it was a group concerto, like Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Instruments.”

In the midst of his second season with the Louisville Orchestra, Abrams has already made an impression on the city of Louisville with his contagious enthusiasm and desire to educate. Abrams is by all accounts a wonderfully qualified conductor and composer. The collaborators on "Eroica" themselves are also gifted. Drummer Dani Markham has been featured alongside Jay-Z's drummer Tony Royster, Jr. Rapper JaLin Roze has been recognized as one of the most talented rising artists, singer-songwriter Will Oldham has been creating beautiful folk music for the past decade, and singer, fiddler and guitarist Scott Moore is the front man for the band Niles Foley.

This season is only just getting warmed up, and we can keep our excitement high as Teddy Abrams continues to inspire and grow the Louisville music community.
