The Louisville Sports Commission has finalized their “fall runathon” in recent days. This three race event is set to bring different marathons throughout the fall season to the Derby City, the races are set up almost as stepping stones to each other.

By which I mean, the lightest race opens up the season, the Louisville Pure Tap 5K, is set to begin September 21st at 8:45 a.m at the Louisville Water Tower.

After one has tackled the 5K they then prepare for the next race in the series the Norton Sports Health Great Pumpkin 10K October 19th, which is set to begin at the Parklands in Floyd’s Fork. What’s interesting about this particular race is it will be the first “mini-marathon” to be held in the Parklands.

Of course, these two races lead to the Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon on November 10th. This locally famous run is a 13.1 mile race and is set to commence at 8:30 a.m on Main Street in front of the KFC Yum! Center, the race concludes at the Belvedere.

Last year for the men the half marathon was won by Michael Eaton who had a time of one hour and nine minutes, while the first woman to cross the finish line came eleven minutes later with Holly Knight. Both of these times are notably faster than the 2011 winners, Ryan Althaus (1:18:14) and Jennifer Osterhage (1:26:36).

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
