    Finnigan Productions presents its first annual festival of new plays by local playwrights, Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun, running March 21 and 22 at 7:30pm at The Rudyard Kipling, located at 422 W. Oak Street.  Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is the third production in Finnigan’s fourth season in Louisville and the first festival of its kind to be produced by Finnigan Production’s Artistic Director, Brian Walker.  Sponsored by Open Grain Woodwork.


    Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is a celebration of local theatre artists in the disciplines of playwriting, acting and directing, with scripts from eight local writers, being directed by six local directors and performed by eleven local actors.  The local sketch comedy group The Indicators will also be on hand to open and close the show.


    Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s plays include a role-playing relationship comedy: Anastasia Remoulade by Tad Chitwood, a Kentucky coal-mining drama: Permit to Conceal by Mitch Fields, a child’s call for impeachment:  Time for Change by Brian Walker, a spin on a classic replacing nuclear bombs with bees in:  How I stopped worrying and learned to love The Bee by Jared Schubert, a courtroom comedy about race and relations:  Kin Under the Skin by Cisco Montgomery,  a woman’s one year AA anniversary in Roxanne’s Magic Chip by Aaron Davis, and finally a modern day cool-aide cult:  Purple cool-aide Cult from Purpletown by Brian Walker.


    Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun is being produced by Louisville native and artistic director of Finnigan Productions, Brian Walker.  Walker’s previous writing credits include The Time I was Kidnapped by the Church, Smoke This Play, Great American Sex Play, my daddy’s name is Big Oil, and Shot me Down, which were all produced by Finnigan Productions at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville and The MeX.


    The Indicators, conceived and created by artistic director James Cronin, include Brandon Meeks, Ben Owen, and Matt Gifford, perform locally three times a month at Bearno’s by the Bridge and Comedy Caravan.


    Directing credits for Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun are being shared by several local directors, including Theatre Alliance of Louisville founder Gil D. Reyes, Indicators artistic director James Cronin, Necessary Theatre’s artistic director Tad Chitwood, local thespian Andy Pyle and Finnigan’s Brian Walker. 


    Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun’s cast includes Leah Roberts, Kelly Kapp, Sarah East, Vanessa Ferguson, Delilah Smyth, Joseph Hatfield, Andy Pyle, Ben Owen, Jeremy Sapp, Eric Welch and Anthony Survance.
