    Bit to Do

Hustle, bustle, silver bells. Time is running out to get to all of the Christmas and holiday events around the city. Here's a quick list of things you can still do before the big holiday arrives in less than 48 hours.

    1. See the lights at Toyland Christmas! This is by far one of the best places to see Christmas lights and your family will be mesmerized and make memories together. Take the drive out to south Louisville and arrive at 6801 Melon Court of the Smyrna Road exit on the Gene Snyder. The lights are on until December 26. It's definitely become a holiday tradition for my family and me.

    2. Pick up a last minute gift or stocking stuffer at The Parent Teacher Store and Toys Too! This store in east Louisville is locally owned and operated: remember how you vowed to shop only local for your holiday gifts?! It seems like a teacher's gift mecca store, but they not only carry great teaching items, they have whole shelves full of the most unique toys you can find around.

    3. Stop into one of the eclectic candy shops in and around Louisville for premade yummy goodies for Santa. Check out the lineups from places like Muth's Candies (those famous modjeskas are the holiday favorite to gift and receive!), Dundee Candy Shop, Schmipff's, and Fuzziwig's among many others. Kids love candy shops, go out together before it's too late and pick up a special treat to leave out for the jolly old elf, or eat it yourself!

    4. Speaking of candy and holiday treats, head to Schimpff's Confectionery to see candy making the old fashioned way-hurry though they close on Christmas Eve at 3pm and reopen in January! Also see Charlestown Park lit up-people tell me it's totally great.

    5. Get all dressed up as a family and venture downtown to see the lights at 40 Nights of Lights, watch skaters at the ice rink at 4th Street Live and see if you can spot both lit up Christmas trees in downtown Louisville. Top it off with a family meal together at Old Spaghetti Factory.
