Perhaps to those more keen to Top 40 radio, Foster The People are those Pumped Up Kicks guys, but for their fans and those more invested in the game, Foster The People is a pop/rock trio whose big sound has taken them across the world playing huge festival and venues.

The Los Angeles group is touring to promote their sophomore album “Supermodel” that came out in March. They will be making their first trip to Louisville when the group plays The Louisville Palace tonight. I couldn’t think of a better way to break out of the case of the Mondays.

Foster The People jumped onto the scene with their huge hit “Pumped Up Kicks” but they have stayed on everyone’s radars with even more hits like “Helena Beat,” “Houdini,” “Coming of Age,” and “Best Friend.”

Both of their albums, Torches and Supermodel, reached in the top of the Billboard Top 200.

While the record is one thing, the live show is completely different but as evidenced from the group’s high profile slots at places like Bonnaroo, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Saturday Night Live, Foster The People is the real deal.

The trio becomes a six piece on the road and the sound is huge. And they don’t just play the songs how you would hear them on the record. For example, you might hear them play “Pumped Up Kicks” into a nearly eight minute electronic rock jam.

Foster The People plays The Louisville Palace October 20. Show time is 8 p.m. with opener Soko starting the show. Tickets are still available for $41-$52.
