Friday Bourbon News Roundup: A Few Upcoming Events
    Print this page

I’ve missed a lot of the bourbon happenings going on this week because I’ve been working on other bourbon stories for your bourbon reading pleasure.  So this edition of the Friday Bourbon News Roundup is going to focus mainly on some upcoming events.

First and foremost, The Filson Bourbon Academy is tomorrow.  TOMORROW!  Click here for tickets.  As of last evening there were miraculously still a few left.

There’s still one more Whisky Chicks Kentucky Sampler on November 12 at Westport Whiskey and Wine.  This event is geared toward women who want to learn more about bourbon, but everyone is definitely welcome.  Click here for tickets.

October 20 is the third Monday Master Distiller’s night at Haymarket Whiskey Bar.  This month’s guest is Jim Rutledge of Four Roses.  Rutledge is very passionate about the industry, and if you haven’t had a chance to meet him yet you really need to get out to this event.  For decades Four Roses was produced in Kentucky but only exported.  Rutledge is responsible for bringing it back to the American market.

In other bourbon news, it has been one year since the great Pappy Heist of 2014.  The case is still unsolved and it could remain that way.  Here’s a piece I wrote about it a few months back, which includes the podcast of a story on NPR for which I was interviewed.  Here’s another in-depth article about the story from the national news.

Check out my recent post about blog recommendations here.  There’s a little something for everyone.
