Are you ready to get your game on, Louisville? The Louisville Arcade Expo is just over a week away. Why should you attend? Let’s count the reasons.

    1) Games

There are going to be over 100 totally functional pinball machines and arcade games set on free play. Remember when you pumped endless quarters into these games as a kid? At the Louisville Arcade Expo, you get to relive your youth without breaking the bank! There are also going to be classic console systems and games from the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Duck Hunt, anyone? If that’s not enough, classic computing will also be available, including the Apple II and Commodore 64. I’m not even a gamer, and I’m excited! If you are a gamer, you can show off your skills in one of the many tournaments throughout the convention.

    2) Kids

This is the perfect convention for kids. They’ll be entertained the whole time by the vast array of games. Kids 10 and under also get in free with adult admission. We’ve been snowed in for what seems like forever. Parents, get your kids out of the house and entertain them for free!

    3) Shopping

If you’re a geek and you love to shop, this convention has got you covered. As I recall, last year’s vendor hall had everything a geek like me could ever want.

    4) Seminars

With seminars on everything from Pinball Basics to Cosplay, you’ll find something for you. Speaker David Crane will also be hosting a seminar. Crane is one of the founders of Activision and has designed many classic games.

    5) Costume Contests

There will be two costume contests held at the Louisville Arcade Expo - one for kids and one for adults. I was very impressed with the caliber of the costumes last year, and I’m certain this year won’t disappoint!

If those reason’s still aren’t enough, there’s more. This convention is so affordable! Pre-registration is only $15 a day or $35 for the whole weekend. Even if you can’t plan to go in advance, the prices are still cheap! At the door, admission is only $20 a day or $45 for the weekend.  The expo will run from March 6th through the 8th.  For more information (including hours of operation and a schedule of events) or to pre-register, visit www.arcaderx.com. Check back with Louisville.com after the convention for pictures and a review.
