UPDATE: Due to flooding, Gonzofest will be moving from the Harbor Lawn to the Big Four Lawn. You may know the Big Four Lawn as the site of WFPK Waterfront Wednesdays.

For five years, Gonzofest has been celebrating the life and work of Hunter S. Thompson, a Louisville-born writer who made famous his style of journalism, "gonzo" journalism. Thompson's legends grows with every year of the festival and for in 2015, Gonzofest will also be growing.

Last year Gonzofest took place at various small venues across the city with headquarters at The Monkey Wrench (which fittingly bears a mural of the writer on one of their walls), but this year the fest will be headed to one central location: Harbor Lawn at Waterfront Park. This is a sizable move but for a festival with already over 1,000 RSVPs on Facebook, but a wise one.

The festival lasts from 2 p.m. until midnight, and the music lineup includes Vessel, Graffiti, 1200, Twin Limb, Them's Live, Thirty Spokes, and Small Time Napoleon. There are art and literary contests. Gonzofest will also feature an unveiling of drawings for a Hunter S. Thompson statue, spoken-word and poetry readings, live art, craft vendors, food by The Monkey's Uncle Grill featuring Lil Cheezers, the premiere of a documentary detailing last year's festival, and more.

Advance tickets are on sale now at The Monkey Wrench and Revelry Boutique Gallery for $10 and online tickets are available here. Money earned from GonzoFest supports efforts to build a bronze statue of Hunter S. Thompson in Louisville, KY. Proceeds also benefit The Gonzo Foundation.
