Join the Bed-In at the Ali Center: Give Peace a Chance

In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono got married and went on an extended honeymoon. But instead of a private, romantic, rich people’s honeymoon, it became a public, activist, rich people’s honeymoon. All because of the “Bed-Ins.”

The Muhammad Ali Center’s “Give Peace a Chance” exhibit lets you join the Montreal Bed-In. For days, Lennon and Ono lounged in their hotel bed and invited the press to spend hours with them, photographing and recording their every word and gesture, and to help spread their anti-war, pro-peace message: “Just give peace a chance.”

While you’ve likely seen at least one image from the Bed-In, and perhaps seen the documentary film, “Bed Peace,” that was created from the footage, the exhibit includes many images not often seen.

The Muhammad Ali Center is at 144 N. Sixth Street. The “Give Peace a Chance” exhibit will run through May 26, 2014.
