Ancient customs and Western culture meet and clash in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I. An English schoolteacher is brought in to teach the princes and princesses of Siam. At the schoolteacher's request, a big European-style dinner and ball is thrown, bringing out the highest-ranking men and women from Europe to Siam. However, constant clashes with ancient traditions, specifically with the king, may derail Siam's future.
Following The King and I, Hayswood Theatre will open its 2014-15 theater season with Steel Magnolias. Auditions will take place this weekend, and the show will happen in October.
