Want some blasphemy in your Christmas stew? I’m about to give it to you. Ready? Ready now? OK. See... This is embarrassing, but... I can’t really remember the story of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

(GASP! SHOCK! FAINT! THROWING OF MASHED TATERS AT YOUR SCREEN!)

I know there’s Scrooge, of course. Grumpy Gills Scrooge not happy about nothin’. (I think I remember this best cause my mama would sometimes call me one; that, or Eeyore. Aye yi yi.)

There are a flurry of ghosts, I know. Christmas Past, Present, Future trying to pull Scrooge out of his money-lovin’ life. Got that.

Pretty sure there are a ton of characters in the play... Mmhmm... But names slip me... Fitz-something... Tiny somebody...

My ignorance concerning A Christmas Carol is exactly what has me so pumped to see this famed holiday tradition at Actors Theatre this Friday, Nov. 28. Running at Actors Theatre for 39 years, this year’s production revamps older ones with completely redesigned costumes (over 700 new pieces) and diversified adaptation (by Barbara Field) and direction (by Drew Fracher).

With fresh eyes I will view the new on this age-old tale and fun-for-all-the-family production of Scrooge and his posse. You should, too. Let’s stir that stew.

A Christmas Carol runs Nov. 25 - Dec. 31, varying times. Tickets start at $25 (half that for kids) and can be purchased by calling 584-1205 or online at ActorsTheatre.org. Sponsorship by Fifth Third Bank.

    About Arielle Reyna Christian

Oh me! Just a screamer and dreamer. Poet, know it. Righter writer. Too much wordplay is good for the soul. Arts all around. Hooty hoo!
