Life And Style At Old Taylor Distillery
    Print this page

Ever since Peristyle announced plans to restore the Old Taylor Distillery in Woodford County, people have been clamoring for a chance to see the ruins being resurrected.  A few small groups have had the opportunity to visit in the months since Marianne Barnes joined the team as the Master Distiller for the yet-unnamed future bourbon brand, but there will not be public tours available until April of 2016.

Fortunately, work on the gardens of the grounds is already well underway.  Beautiful decay envelops a pristine sunken garden at the center of the 100+ acre distillery grounds, and another botanical garden with walking paths is under construction.  These gardens are the restoration work of prominent award-winning garden designer Jon Carloftis, whose work can also be seen at My Old Kentucky Home, Keenland, and The Governor’s Mansion.

On September 12th, guests will have the opportunity to attend a garden party at the Old Taylor Distillery grounds to survey the progress of the gardens and restoration work there.  There will be lectures throughout the day followed by garden tours and cocktails in the afternoon.  Topics will include garden photography, cocktail gardening, and floral design, and guests will include Sally Van Winkle Campbell, Marianne Barnes, and Jon Carloftis.

Tickets are $125 per person, or you can purchase an entire table of 8 for $900.  Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks and cocktails are included in the purchase price.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the distillery grounds before it is open to the general public next spring.  Tickets are sure to go quickly- click here for more information.
