    Print this page

The month of October is about to be bonkers with the quantity and quality of live music available to Louisville on pretty much a daily basis. We couldn’t be more excited. For location, time and cost, click on the links for each event. Be sure to check back at livemusiclou.com after for our full reviews!

    Sunday (9/27) -

    Bernstein: Mass

It’s a BIG deal that the Louisville Orchestra is performing this piece. This is a massive undertaking can easily described as a spectacle.

    Monday (9/28) -

    The Decemberists, Olivia Chaney

This Monday night Iroquois Amphitheater is the last one of the season. The Portland-originated indie band has become well-known for their engaging, eccentric live shows. We’ll be at this one, ready for whatever The Decemberists throw at us.

    Wednesday (9/30) -

Waterfront Wednesday - Wax Fang, Here We Go Magic, Vandaveer

It will be a bittersweet day on the Waterfront, as we’ve got another great lineup to end the warm-weather monthly concert series. Louisville’s own Wax Fang will headline, and joining them will be New York band Here We Go Magic and DC’s Vandaveer. We’re always sad when the September WW rolls around, but the good news is, it’s only a short break until Winter Wednesdays!

SoMo Presents: The Fallin’ Up Tour

Young R&B singer SoMo built up his fan base through YouTube videos - they’ve been viewed 100s of millions of times. He’s just released his second mixtape and his out on tour, hitting 30+ cities around the US. You’ve probably heard his song “Ride” on the radio, and we’re certain the sensual vibe from that song will be carried over through the night.

    Thursday (10/1) -

Mayor’s Music & Art Series: Brooks Ritter

We’re jealous of all the people that can head over to the Mayor’s Gallery at Metro Hall for some lunch time tunes. Brooks Ritter recently shared that he has been recording some new music, so I’m sure this will be the ideal stage to share it with the hometown crowd.

Strive Pop-Up Show for Give Local Louisville featuring Cheyenne Mize, Nina Rodahaffer, Vandaveer, Drew Miller

Thursday is the annual Give Local Louisville day, where nonprofits look to raise money in a single day push. To aid their effort Strive hosting a pop-up show, including some of Louisville’s own. Come on out and support this community organization!

The Avett Brothers with Jason Isbell

This isn’t in Louisville but we have to talk about it anyway as these two acts have enormous followings here in town. We are headed to Lexington for the night to catch the always delightful Avett Bros and to hear Jason Isbell’s new album in person.

    Friday (10/2) -

    LEO Readers’ Choice Awards

I think we may have spotted that 1200 is on the bill (fingers crossed, anyway). So, yes.

    Abbey Road LIVE

Beatles jams and our favorite venue? Sounds like a flawless night.

    Hayes Carll: Acoustic

Talented Texas musician Hayes Carll is in town for a stripped down, acoustic set at the KCD theater. Living in central Louisville, it is a bit of a trip to get out to this venue, but the upcoming lineup of acts heading there will get us out there for sure.

    Saturday (10/3)-

    Louder Than Life Festival

Louder Than Life was a big success last year and is looking to make even more noise in its sophomore year. The lineup includes big names including Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top.
