This Saturday, January 24 sounds like a perfect pjs and stories day at the new Southwest Regional Library. It's the first of many 1000 Books Before Kindergarten events that celebrates reading with free books and activities for the whole family! It will be held at 10 a.m

Last January, the Louisville Free Public Library launched the popular 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge. All year long, the library has been seeing the challenge taken, namely by more than 14,000 area children. Nearly 700 of them have already completed it!

The Library invites you and your family to celebrate 1000 Books’ first year at the new Southwest Regional Library this weekend. Llama Llama, the very popular children’s book character from Llama Llama Red Pajama and many other fun titles in the series will be there for a meet n greet. There will also be lots of fun with activities, games, and performances for the whole family. Also, get there early and be one of the first 500 families; you can receive a free copy of the book Llama Llama Red Pajama, courtesy of LG&E.

According to the Louisville Free Public LIbrary, "this special family event celebrates the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program which is made possible by donors to The Library Foundation and the Community Foundation of Louisville. The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge is free and ongoing. Parents or caregivers can register their child and pick up a reading log at any library location."

For more information, visit LFPL.org/1000Books. And be sure to join the conversation on social media by using #1000BBK on your Twitter and Instagram posts. But more importantly, don't forget to wear your pajamas!

This party is free and open to the public.  For more information, call 502-933-0029. The Southwest Regional Library is located at 9725 Dixie Highway.
