In case you aren’t aware, Louisville is home to lots of incredibly talented people. Heather Fleming is another one of those who bring a dose of creativity to town, and her’s is a particularly unique and ever-increasingly rare one - custom wig making. We’re not talking over-the-counter wigs that look like plastic. We aren’t even talking ones that force you to wear bangs. We’re talking about wigs so good you can’t even tell a person is wearing one.

Fleming left Actor’s Theater several years ago and formed

in 2010. Since then she has been creating some incredibly unique designs - from

wigs and beards all the way to

    Thraduil and Elsa

, Custom Wig Company does it all. Even more exciting, they’re going to be featured on the season premier of PBS’

    Start Up USA

Start UP USA goes in-depth with small, new business that are taking off. Their website states that they aim to demystify the process of becoming successful, and do so by getting up close and personal with people who’ve made it happen.

And if you’re mystified by small business, you might even be more so at the idea of hand making a wig. What goes into it? How long does it take, and what kind of background is required? If you want answers to those questions, and to find out more about the process of making a custom, hand-tied wig, check out Start Up USA this Friday. Support a Louisville business, and learn something about a niche that you may not have even realized existed.
