Being a meteorologist in the Ohio Valley is no easy task. Different kinds of weather show up at any time it wants, keeping your local weathermen and women on their toes at all time.

Have you ever wondered how they do it? What are all those graphs they use? What about the lingo?

The Louisville chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has taken care of all these questions with their Meet the Meteorologists event on December 4.

Jay Cardosi (WLKY-32), Kevin Harned (WAVE-3) and Ben Pine (WHAS-11), three of Louisville’s best weather experts, will be able to explain everything from the technology they use to the difficulty of handling Ohio Valley weather and how to manage that tricky “green screen.”

Here’s your chance to ask that question you have always wondered about the people who tell you if you should pack that umbrella, sunscreen or extra layer.

Steve York, a veteran newsman recently retired from WAVE-3, will lead the discussion.

The program is free and open to the public.  It will be held Thursday, December 4, at Louisville Collegiate School, 2427 Glenmary Drive (near Grinstead Drive), from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., in the school's auditorium.
