    This summer, we received tons of adorable submissions for our Cover Pet contest, and the winner was published on the cover of Louisville Magazine's September Animal Issue. Although there were too many to include in the magazine, we've created a gallery of all the finalists! Check out the winner, runners-up and finalists below.

    COVER CONTEST WINNER

    BOOMER BOY BECKER
    Two-year-old Great Dane

    Owners: Kate Conroy Becker and Ryan Becker
    Neighborhood: St. Matthews

    Boomer Boy Becker enjoys summer trips to Nolan Lake,
    where he swims with his sister, Bunny Lebowski;
    intimidating the mailman with his deep Darth Vader
    voice; and intimate dinner parties with, his owners say,
    "wet food served with rich Merlot and a bacon garnish."
    The Beckers thank Crescent Hill Animal Hospital and
    emergency veterinary hospital BluePearl for saving
    Boomer after he ate a towel.

    COVER CONTEST RUNNERS-UP

    DON JULIO AKA PARTY MOUSE
    Two-year-old chinchilla

    Owners: Cristin and Jason Richey
    Neighborhood: Worthington

    Don Julio enjoys sniffing Santa Margherita wine; using
    his younger but larger brother, Baloo, as a pillow;
    and gluten-free cheese pizza from Domino's.
    Drake is his favorite musician.

    REUBEN
    One-year-old New Zealand red rabbit

    Owner: Vanessa Pfeffer
    Neighborhood: Near U of L

    Reuben enjoys snacking on cauliflower and crackers;
    long, circular runs in the apartment; and hopping
    around the feet of new acquaintances. He is
    more than willing to wear a birthday hat.

    LARGO
    13-year-old blue-headed Pionus parrot

    Owners: Nancy and Scott Staidle
    Neighborhood: Graymoor-Devondale

    Largo enjoys eating peanuts; singing along to Mozart,
    AC/DC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers; and yelling
    at all (especially election-related) political commentary.
    Though his owners say that "he doesn't seem to have
    a problem with Bernie."
