    • "A key lawmaker called for the resignation of Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Janie Miller on Monday, saying the agency has misled legislators regarding child abuse records and other key issues. Republican Sen. Julie Denton of Louisville, chairwoman of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee, said Miller’s cabinet has not provided lawmakers with accurate information about children who die or nearly die from neglect and abuse. 'This cabinet treats everyone as an adversary,' Denton said during Monday’s meeting. 'I’m tired of lies. I’m tired of deception. I’m tired of the tap-dance routine. I’m tired of the shroud of secrecy. We should be partners not adversaries.'" [Bluegrass Politics]
    • "Commonwealth's Attorney Dave Stengel admits it took a long time to exonerate Kerry Porter. Stengel's office had been looking into the case since 2009. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Irv Maze dismissed a 1998 indictment against Porter and ordered him freed from prison after more than 14 years." [WAVE 3]
    • "Seeking to overturn the Citizens United case, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., filed a bill Tuesday that would amend the U.S. Constitution to get money out of politics by toppling key provisions of the Supreme Court’s controversial decision. The bipartisan legislation was introduced alongside U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, R-Nc., and establishes that financial expenditures and in-kind contributions do not qualify as protected free speech under the First Amendment. It also makes Election Day a legal holiday and enables Congress to establish a public financing system that would serve as the sole source of funding for federal elections." [WFPL]
    • "Philanthropist Owsley Brown Frazier has given the University of Louisville Foundation a $25 million donation. The gift will go toward the foundation’s $1 billion capital campaign, which was increased this past summer becoming the school’s largest capital campaign goal in its history. Frazier, who is also chair of the campaign,  made the announcement Monday and said he and his family have now donated over $40 million to U of L over the years." [WFPL]
