Teddy Abrams is soon to take the helm of the Louisville Orchestra for his second season and his continued goal of creating more exposure for the orchestra throughout the entire music community and the whole city begins when the Louisville Orchestra offers a free preview concert from some of the selections they will perform during the 2015-2016 season.

The preview will be held on September 19 at Iroquois Amphitheater at 7 p.m. It is a free event and seating will be first come, first served. Doors will open at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Music Director Teddy Abrams designed this concert to feature highlights from the 2015-2016 Classics Series sponsored by Brown-Forman and the Coffee Concert Series sponsored by Treyton Oak Towers. Works featured at the preview concert include: Stravinsky’s Russian Dance from Petrouchka, which will be performed with the Louisville Ballet on March 4 and 5; Beethoven’s Symphony No.3 (“Eroica”) can be heard again on October 23 and 24 when the Louisville Orchestra will also perform a World Premiere; and, Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man deeply influenced the composer’s Symphony No. 3 (“America’s Symphony”), which will be performed during the Festival of American Music on April 8 and 9.

Audiences will also enjoy vocal selections from Leonard Bernstein’s Mass featuring baritone Jubilant Sykes.

Tickets for the Louisville Orchestra's 2015-2016 season can be purchased at the preview concert. The season begins on September 26 when they perform Bernstein's Mass. The season will also feature collaborations with banjo player Bela Fleck, singer Vanessa Williams, the Louisville Ballet, and even local musicians like JaLin Roze and Will Oldham. They will also be performing the music of Led Zeppelin on November 14 and the music of Barbara Streisand on January 16. For a full schedule, click here.
