Louisville’s Brackets for Good: Friendly Competition
    Print this page

If you’ve got March Madness, how about throwing a little (or a lot) of that spirit toward Brackets for Good, a competitive fundraising project for Louisville nonprofits tied to the city’s love of the basketball tournament.

Started in Indianapolis in 2011, Brackets for Good has expanded to Louisville for the first time this year, and now local organizations have a chance to progress through the Louisville bracket toward the championship spot and a $10,000 prize.

As of right now, we are in the Engaged Eight round, having moved through the first and second rounds, and the Supported Sixteen. You can check out the Louisville “halftime report” on the Brackets for Good blog to see all the nonprofits involved and how much has been raised so far.

Nonprofits get “points” by encouraging their supporters to make donations to them through the site. A dollar equals a point. To up the competition among supporters, the Donor Leaderboards also show the most philanthropic alumni, companies, age ranges, zip codes and gender (Louisville ladies have made more donations so far in the 2015 tournament, but the gentlemen have collectively give more dollars/points).

March 27, we will progress to the Philanthropic Four round, and then on to the Championship. To support your favorite nonprofit teams, check out the Louisville Engaged Eight organizations:

    About Kachina Shaw

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
