Louisville’s Culinary Excellence Noted in Saveur
    Print this page

Searching for the “delicious stories” to be found around the world, national food magazine Saveur includes Louisville in its 2014 Culinary Travel Awards list. In 21 categories, it rounds up the best to be found in cities, markets, restaurants, bars, hotels, airlines, resorts, breweries, wineries and more. Louisville makes its appearance this year as a “notable” destination among small domestic cities.

“We know Louisvillians love our amazing restaurant scene, and it can be quite a draw for out-of-town visitors and conventions alike,” said Karen Williams, President & CEO of the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau, in a statement. “We believe culinary tourism can be a significant part of our tourism product, and be a big boost to the local economy.”

As Louisville collects its accolades for excellence in food and dining, bourbon and spirits, and hospitality, it’s no accident. In support of the hard work of farmers, restaurateurs, distillers and creators of any number of culinary experiences, the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau earlier in 2014 created a new campaign to attract more foodie tourists to this area. The campaign centers around the Culinary Louisville website, featuring high-quality photography, news about openings and events around Louisville, and travel planning tools.

Louisville’s beer scene, farmer’s markets, bourbon trail, wine trail, signature recipes and much more receive star billing and an events calendar puts planning for those coming to visit -- or enjoying our own fair city -- at your fingertips.

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
