    Print this page received a Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) award last week. The site took first place at the SPJ Louisville chapter's awards ceremony in the online non-affiliated (with another media outlet) category.'s Editor and Director of content and editorial strategy, Zach Everson, accepted the award. was originally founded in 1997, however, Everson has revamped the site in the past few years by adding more local writers and new content. Eater Louisville, a website which is also edited by Everson, took second place in the same category. This was the first year that the online non-affiliated category was offered by SPJ.
    An SPJ chapter from Chicago judged all the Louisville entries and the judges commented on the search capabilities and calendar featured on
    “A beautiful site with lots of search functions and some well designed interfaces for submitting events. Congratulations on a great site. It is stunning,” the judges said.
    The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization. Their annual awards ceremony has recognized area media outlets for reporting and writing since 1981.
    More than 60 awards were presented at the ceremony in seven categories including metro papers, non-metro papers, magazines, online-affiliated, online non-affiliated, television and college entries.
