Louisville Public Media's just-concluded fall membership campaign raised $270,140 in seven days, it was announced today.  A large portion of this total was donated by almost 1,000 new members.

"I think our message that public radio is more important than ever really resonated with our listeners", says Executive Director Donovan Reynolds.  "We are grateful for this show of support in very difficult economic times, and we feel a strong responsibility to spend this money as wisely as possible."

The success of this year's drive is attributed to the unique formats of the three stations.  89.3 WFPL's ability to offer independent, fact-based coverage of the ongoing economic crisis, the presidential election and international events was cited as very important to the station's membership.  Contributors also said they valued the unique music formats offered by Classical 90.5 and 91.9 WFPK, which are free from commercials and political ads.

Although the drive has concluded, it is still possible to become a member of public radio or to renew membership.   To become a member, please visit www.wfpl.org <http://www.wfpl.org/> , www.wuol.org <http://www.wuol.org/>  or www.wfpk.org <http://www.wfpk.org/>  or call (502) 814-6565.

Louisville Public Media is a not-for-profit corporation and the only public radio organization in the country serving its community with three unique radio formats.  Its three stations are 89.3 WFPL, Louisville's NPR News Station, Classical 90.5, Louisville's Fine Arts
Station, and 91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville, an adult album alternative format station.
