April 18th-26th is the Mayor’s Week of Service, where Mayor Fischer challenged all Louisvillians to give a portion of their time that week in service of others or through compassionate acts in the River City.

To mark Louisville’s week of selfless deeds, the Mayor’s office is going to be putting on a concert to kick-off the week display of good will from the people Louisville.  The free concert will be held Friday April 17th at 8:00 PM (the doors will open at 7:00 PM) in the Mayor’s Gallery Listening Room, in Louisville Metro Hall at 527 W. Jefferson Street.

And for the sake of conversation there will be a cash bar available, just in case you ever want to brag to your friends that:  “Man, this one time I got buzzed in City Hall.”

The show will feature music from Thirty Spokes, Alex Wright & The Maven Down, as well as D’Arkestra.  Even though the concert is free they will be accepting cash donations, and there will be a silent auction for an original painting by Louisville artist Lisa Simon.  All proceeds will go to local non-profit organizations.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
