Leslie Meyer wears whatever she wants. “I never want to look back and think that I didn’t wear something because I was afraid of what someone might think or say about it, she says. “I want to look back and think of all of the fabulous things I wore and how much I loved wearing every single thing!”

Leslie moved to Louisville from a small town to attend college, and soon after that began writing her blog, The Style Supreme.  “A small town has many things that I adore, but shopping for plus size fashion is definitely not one of them. The options were non-existent. Louisville has so many more options, and I felt like a kid in a candy store after moving here.” On her blog, Tumblr, Facebook Page, Instagram, Twitter and Vlog, Leslie shows off her style, and encourages everyone who follows her to "be yourself and wear what makes you happy."

    Q. Tell us about yourself!

LM: “I am a small town girl from Morgantown, KY, who moved to Louisville to attend college. Not long after moving here, I met a guy, fell in love, got married and now I have been living here for a little over seven years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Science in Justice Administration. I have always had such an interest in fashion and that is something that definitely has developed into so much more since moving to Louisville…. My passion for styling really came alive and I have been able to take this love of fashion to the next level. Fashion is my creative outlet and the perfect form of self-expression for me. It makes me so unbelievably happy.”

    Q. Why did you decide to start a fashion blog? How long has it been going on?

LM: “I really started developing my own personal style after moving here and getting to play around with so many different options. I also began watching a lot of YouTube videos, and I loved watching ‘outfit of the day’ videos. Seeing plus size girls doing those videos was extremely rare at the time, so I think I was just really curious about what a girl my size would look like on film. That curiosity led me to make a video and after a while, get the courage to upload it. I started my channel in the summer of 2010. That decision has opened up a whole new world for me.

I started my vlog as my own personal fashion diary. It's so fun to look back and see how my style has changed over time, and to see how excited I was about new looks I tried. Along the way, I have been able to meet people all over the world and be a part of this amazing plus size body positive community. When I started my journey, it was just for me, but along the way it has changed to something much bigger. I have received so many beautiful messages and letters that move me to tears. To know that my work has been a source of inspiration or encouragement for other people is so powerful. Now, I can't imagine life without this amazing community.”

    Q. You’re a plus-size fashion blogger. Is it hard to find cute plus-size clothes in Louisville? Where are some of your favorite local places to shop?

LM: “It has gotten easier recently thanks to national retailers like Torrid, Forever 21+, Wet Seal Plus and Nordstrom Rack. As far as, local shops and boutiques, it's pretty much non-existent. There is a fab boutique in New Albany called Dress & Dwell that offers stylish plus size clothing.”

    Q. What’s the big dream? What’s in the future for the Style Supreme?

LM: “Blogging has opened the door to many amazing opportunities partnering with some of my favorite brands and designers, and there are still some designers that I would hope to grab the attention of and work with also! I also would like to reach as many people as possible who have had the same struggles with self confidence or experienced similar frustrations with shopping, finding fashionable clothes, body shaming, etc. If we all looked the same and dressed the same it would be a boring world, and I just hope people know they are amazing just the way they are. Be yourself and wear what makes you happy. Fashion is such an amazing and fun form of self-expression.”

    Q.  Are there any Louisville businesses you wish would offer more plus-size options?

LM: “Yes, definitely! All of them!”

    Q. Where do you take most of your photos? Who takes them for you?

LM: “My husband is my primary photographer. We like to take photos in different areas around our beautiful city as much as possible. When we are pressed for time, our patio seems to be our go-to spot.”

    Q.  What are your thoughts on the style scene in Louisville? Who do you think we should keep an eye on?

LM: “I think Louisville has such a great fashion scene, from the unique Kentucky Derby style people associate with our city to the awesome emerging fashion bloggers and fashionable folks. I love events like Derby City Fashion Week, and I would love to see more fashion-centered events in the area. One of my fav Louisville fashionistas is LaPrecious Brewer, Miss Black Kentucky USA 2014. I love following her on social media. She is stylish, confident, intelligent and motivated, and I can't wait to see what she does next!”
