Nappy Roots is one of the most respected groups in hip-hop today.  Hailing from the bluegrass, Nappy Roots has built career around a straight forward lyrics that speak with mid-western/southern wit and charm.

Now the group is preparing for the release their newest album “40 Akerz Project” next Tuesday, May 5.  The album, which the band managed to crowdfund, is beginning to surface and they’re bringing it to us this Derby season.  If you make your way out to the St. Matthews location of Drake’s on Oaks night, Nappy Roots will be throwing “The 40 Akerz Project Extravaganza,” the whole group will be on hand at the bar, performing live and playing classic tracks and new songs off the new album.

There will be D.J.’s on-hand spinning all-night, and when the Nappy Roots finally take the stage, the roof is going to pop off the place.  So don’t miss the extravaganza because it’s going to go on all night long.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
