    The Louisville Zoo has a little something for all the animal-lovers in your home this winter. Just because it’s finally cold enough for those polar bears, doesn’t mean the zoo is off limits. Throughout the winter months, the Zoo will offer a selection of programs for all age groups, including adults. Check the listing below to see what might work for your wild animals.

    Winter Homes

    : 2 year-old with an adult

    January 22

    A play-centered, one-hour class that will include circle time, story time, and a special animal guest before embarking on a guided walking tour of the Zoo. You and your little will learn how animals deal with the harsh winter climate and investigate animals in their winter homes.

    Cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members.

    Getting it Together

    : Grades 1-3

    January 29

    “For some animals teamwork is what it is all about when it comes to survival. Learn how animals work together to find food and protect themselves,” states the Zoo’s website. 

    Cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members.

    Snake, Rattle, and Roll

    : Grades 4-6

    February 12

    Snakes are the theme of this class and participants will learn the myths associated with snakes, explore the HerpAquarium, and investigate a plethora of non-venomous snakes.

    Cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members.

    Breakfast with the Orangutans

    : Families with children 4 and up

    February 19, 8:30-10:00

    Families will explore the world of orangutans while enjoying a continental breakfast. Observe the orangutans having breakfast while a zoo keeper explains the animals’ behavior. 

    Cost is $18 for members, $30 for non-members

    School’s Out Safari--Spring Break Camp

    : Ages 6-12

    April 4-8

    According to the Zoo’s press release, “This fun and educational program will explore a variety of themes through Zoo walks, animal encounters, as well as games and activities. Campers will be divided into different groups according to age.” 

    Cost for the Spring Break camp is $175 for members, $190 for non-members.

    What’s New at the Zoo

    : Adults only

    Learn what’s going on behind-the-scenes at the Zoo from conservation projects to new exhibits.

    Members $10, non-members $15
