Ok Go at Headliners Sept. 23, 2014

I can remember the first time I ever heard Ok Go.  I was sitting in my dorm room listening to some random music I had on my computer.  I am not sure how I acquired their song “Get Over It” released on their 2002 record

    Ok Go

    ,

but it became an instant favorite.  Fueled by the stress of moving for the first time in my life to a small southern college town that didn’t exactly accept me; I clung to this song and their album like it was my mantra.  Inspired by the chorus line “get over it”, I used it to remember that I had put myself in that position and I needed to figure out a way to make it work.  Ever since then I have been feverishly in love with this band and their creativity.

Needless to say when I found out they were coming to play in Louisville I let out a very high-pitched girly squeal (I’m sorry for any ear drums that were injured in this joyous moment).  Tomorrow night at Headliners Music Hall (1386 Lexington Rd, Louisville, KY 40206) WFPK will present Ok Go with the Night Visions DJs at 9pm.  This is an 18+ show, doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 which can be purchased in advance on their

.  I highly recommend you catch this show, every bit of it should be phenomenal.  These bandmates are profoundly creative and sure to have an amazing set planned.

If you need any more reasons why you shouldn’t miss this performance (other than the deep sadness you’ll feel in your soul) you should check out some of Ok Go’s music videos.  Their song “

    Here it goes again

” won a Grammy in 2007 for best music video; it displays their sweet choreographed treadmill dance moves.  However, one of my personal favorites from their catalogue is “

    Needing/Getting

”, in which the band uses a car and hugely inventive course to create the music for the song while they drive.

P.S. You might also recognize their lead singer, Damian Kulash, from Tatia Pilieva’s viral video entitled
