As summer fades away into a September twilight, and makes way for the cool of autumn to fill the Ohio Valley – one can’t help but look back.  And when you look back who doesn’t go back to those hot July or August nights, feet propped up on a chair, a frozen drink in your hand – and listening to the greatest hits of yesterday’s Yacht Rock.

An easy listening era of music from the 70’s and 80’s that just can’t help but put a giant smile on your face (a smile when you aren’t singing along to every word, that is).  It’s an era that launched the careers of artists like Loggins & Messina, Christopher Cross, and Michael McDonald.

This week, The Yacht Rock Revue 2015 is going to be performing in Louisville.  The Yacht Rock Revue is an all-star super group of artists from the era that have come together to play a full setlist of the greatest Yacht Rock hits of yester year.  It’s like one of the greatest late night infomercial cd’s live and in concert.  The group is made up of members from Little River Band, Ambrosia, and Player, as well as Stephen Bishop and Robbie Dupree.

They will be playing a show that features such soft rock classics as “Lady,” “Help is On Its Way,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Baby Come Back,” “Steal Away,” and “This Time I’m In It for Love.”  They will be playing two dozen songs from almost just as many artists, not to mention everyone on-stage will be playing their respective hits.

It’s going to be a fun, wistful show that takes place on Wednesday September 16th at Freedom Hall.  The show will begin at 7:00 PM and tickets are still available for $25-$45.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
